The Olympic Development Program (ODP) is a state run program that is administered by Virginia Youth Soccer Association (VYSA). Virginia is split into 5 districts and each district holds tryouts and a training program in the fall. In November all players from each district tryout for the chance to make the State ODP team. Every year the Western District has a number of players chosen for the State team and even a few players who have gone on to play at the Regional and National levels.
The ODP program is a great opportunity for players to receive additional training in an advanced environment. Coaches include college coaches and some of the best youth soccer coaches in the area. The district teams will train on Friday evenings in the fall to avoid clashes with regular club soccer. Players are selected based upon birth year.
