Kevin Fabulich, Executive Director

Kevin Fabulich was the former Head Women’s Soccer Coach at Sweet Briar College for 8 years until he took on the position of Executive Director at Central Virginia United in early 2015. At Sweet Briar College, he was the all-time winningest coach in the program's history and broke multiple school records for games won, winning percentage, and shutouts. Prior to coming to Sweet Briar, he coached for over 8 years in Florida and Virginia with both club and high school teams. 

Fabulich has a Master's Degree in Coaching Education from Ohio University and holds a USSF Soccer "A" License, which is the highest distinction a soccer coach can receive in the United States.  Fabulich is also on the Virginia Youth Soccer Association Coaching Education Staff, which provides coaching courses to improve the quality of a soccer coach at the State and National Level. Fabulich runs State E and D License Courses for the State of Virginia. Fabulich also has been a head and assitant coach for the VYSA ODP Program at the State and District Level. ODP is a talent identification program that helps place players into US Youth and Senior National Teams. In addition to all of this experience, Fabulich also holds his USYSA Youth License. 

Fabulich will guide CVU in all facets of the organization including coaching and player development as well as fundraising and overseeing complex development. 

Cory Weaver, Assistant Director of Coaching

Cory Weaver joined the Central Virginia United Technical Staff as the Assistant Director of Coaching in March 2016. Originially from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Weaver was an a Assistant Coach for the Men's Program at Taylor University (Indiana) from 2014-2016. During his two years at Taylor he primarily worked with the defensive units, and he helped the Trojans to a 17-17-2 record with a second place finish in the Crossroads League Conference in 2014. Additionally, Weaver coached the Crossroads League Defensive Player of the Year in 2014 as well as helped the Trojans Receive Votes in the National poll 4 times during his time. 

As a player, Weaver attended Wheaton College (IL) from 2008-2011. He was a two-time All Conference pick as both a defender and a midfielder and started 72 of 72 games he was available. Wheaton took two trips to the NCAA Tournament during his time and was ranked as high as #4 in the nation throughout his career. During his time in college Weaver participated in Bridges To The Pros European Tours out of Chicago, IL, which was lead by former USWNT Assistant Coach Bret Hall. He played Europa League 1st teams such as FC Groningen, SC Heerenveen, and Vitesse Arnheim (NED) as well as other first division sides from Sweden, Denmark, and Germany. Weaver then went on to play professionally in Australia with Brisbane Wolves/Bayside United out of Queensland Australia in the 2nd Division. 

Weaver's role within the club will be overseeing our Academy and Futures Program, which are the transition to Travel Programs at CVU. He will also be coaching Travel Teams as well as running camps, winter training, individual training sessions and scheduling for our Premier Block Teams. 

Darien McClurg, Girls Director of Coaching 

Darien has over 20 years of coaching experience at both the high school and club soccer level. He posesses coaching licensure from both the NSCAA as well as the USSF. He has earned his NSCAA Advanced National and NSCAA High School Diplomas, as well as his USSF National D license. Darien has been a staple of the Lynchburg Soccer scene and he was an original member of the first Lynchburg travel team in 1985 when the club was formerly known as Hill City Soccer Club. Darien is our current Girls Travel Director of Coaching and helps oversee the development of both coaches and players on the girls side of the club. He currently coaches the 2004 as well as the 2000 CVU girls teams. Darien has also been the Head Coach for the EC Glass High School Girls Varsity team for the past 21 years. His teams have won numerous conference championships as well as made a number of appearances in the Virginia State High School Girls Playoffs. 

Fun Fact: Darien played King Arthur as the lead role in Camelot when he was in High School at EC Glass!
